The University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute regularly submits the curriculum they deliver for review to multiple external organizations. This ensures that the training that is delivered meets the highest standards and will be of the greatest benefit to all that attend those courses.

American Council on Education (ACE)

ACE's College CREDIT Recommendation Service evaluates and makes credit recommendations for formal educational courses sponsored by non-degree granting organizations. ACE's College CREDIT Recommendation Service helps adult learners obtain academic credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom by providing college officials with reliable information that can be used to determine credit awards. Thirty-four courses have been approved by ACE for academic credit recommendation.

Division of Fire Safety’s Training and Certification Unit

The Missouri Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire Safety’s Training and Certification Unit develops, provides and oversees the training curriculum used regionally for firefighters, fire investigators, fire inspectors, fire officers, fire service instructors, as well as emergency responders dealing with hazardous materials.

The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is responsible for protecting the health, safety and welfare of the public by assuring that emergency medical services provided by ambulance services, emergency medical response agencies, training entities and emergency medical technicians meet or exceed established standards.

Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)

The Department of Public Safety's Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Program is a regulatory agency that is responsible for the licensure of peace officers, reserve peace officers, basic training instructors, curriculum, and training centers. MU FRTI programs were evaluated by POST for its content supporting Law Enforcement continuing education requirements. Nineteen courses carry POST credit.


Continuing education units (CEUs)

A continuing education unit (CEU) is a measure used in continuing education programs to assist the professional to maintain his or her license in their profession. Continuing education or professional development is required in many fields, including emergency service professionals. The term CEU is not a trademarked term; therefore, any educational institution may use it to describe their courses. In this regard, there are no requirements for educator qualifications that are attached to each institutions courses when offering CEUs.
