STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. – The University of Missouri Extension Master Gardeners of Ste. Genevieve will hold their annual tour of private and historic home gardens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 18 and 19.

“This annual event showcases some of the most interesting and delightful gardens in the state,” says MU Extension horticulture specialist Kate Kammler.

Attendees will get a peek at perennials and annuals, shade and sun gardens and interesting landscaping in the oldest permanent European settlement west of the Mississippi River.

“Settled by French Canadians around 1735, the village offers several homes listed on the National Register of Historic Places,” says Kammler. “The perfumed gardens around these colonial homes are an enduring symbol of Ste. Genevieve’s French culture.”

In addition to the tour, Master Gardeners also will hold their annual plant sale, which benefits the group’s beautification grants.

For tickets and more information, contact the Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center at 573-883-7097 or 800-373-7007.
