Today vehicle extrication is as much a part of the fire service as  firefighting. This class deals with tools and techniques required to  remove an entrapped victim from a vehicle accident. Emphasis is on  proper use of powered and manual rescue tools and air bags, coordination  with EMS personnel, vehicle designs, ICS, and safety considerations.  Participants will apply these techniques in practical applications. This  course meets Chapter 8, Technician Level, of NFPA 1670 Standard Operations and Training for Technical Rescue Incidents, as well as, Chapter 10, Vehicle Rescue of NFPA 1006, Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications.

Special requirements

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): The  following gear is required to participate: helmet, bunker coat, bunker  pants with boots, and gloves that met the NFPA standard 1971 at the time  of purchase.
