Students will use the current USDA food graphic, and will be encouraged to be active and eat a variety of food from the five food groups each day to maintain a healthy weight. They learn about key nutrients that the body needs to stay healthy, practices to ensure a healthy body image and ways to keep food safe. The importance of physical activity, body acceptance, food choices and breakfast are also addressed. Each lesson contains learning objectives, supplies needed, core activities and additional activities. Lessons have been cross-referenced with the Missouri Grade Level Expectations and National Health Standards. Classroom handouts are included.
The curriculum is three-hole punched and comes with a cover and spine that can be slipped into a binder with clear front and side pockets.
