Since the University of Missouri has suspended in-person classes on the MU campus, the free tax assistance sites at the Family Impact Center and MU campus are closed for the 2019 tax season. We are unable to reopen the tax sites for normal operation as our volunteers are primarily students enrolled in an experiential learning course during the spring semester. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you are looking for free tax preparation alternatives, you might consider the IRS FreeFile website that can refer you to other free tax preparation options.
It’s often said that money talks — but sometimes it can be difficult to have that conversation. The Missouri Taxpayer Education Initiative is here to help.
Through this hands-on financial education program, IRS-certified student volunteers discuss and prepare tax returns for free at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites. VITA program volunteers also provide free tax help to people with disabilities, the elderly and English-as-a-second-language taxpayers. VITA sites, set up at community and neighborhood centers throughout the nation, offer electronic tax filing with direct deposit refunds.
Service is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
