Meredith Naughton has served as the Executive Director of the Missouri College Advising Corps since December of 2015. Previously, Naughton worked as the director of an ESL tutoring program in Washington DC, funded and housed at the Georgetown University Center for Social Justice. Additionally, she served as the academic coordinator and then director of a federally funded TRiO Upward Bound program at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. She began her career in education in the classroom as a 9th and 10th world history teacher.
Naughton was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and spent her childhood in Kennett, attending Holcomb R-III for elementary school before moving to Columbia with her family for junior high and high school. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Truman State University and a master’s degree in education from Stanford University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the College of Education at University of Missouri. Naughton is professionally and personally committed to the mission and success of MCAC, as she was herself a first-generation college graduate and credits her post-secondary success to the critical mentorship and guidance of dedicated teachers.
