COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute (MU FRTI) will conduct its 86th annual Summer Fire School in Columbia, Mo., May 16-20, 2018.

The Summer Fire School provides hands-on, practical training for firefighters, emergency medical personnel, wildland firefighters and other emergency responders from across Missouri and surrounding states. This year’s school is expected to have more than 250 enrollments from five states (Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri) and Canada.

The 2018 Summer Fire School will offer more than 16 classes mirroring the services that firefighters and other emergency personnel provide on a daily basis.

Classes will be conducted on the MU campus in Columbia and surrounding area beginning Wednesday morning and continuing through Sunday. MU FRTI is partnering with the Columbia Fire Department and Boone County Fire Protection District for use of their training facilities to assist with this event.

Part of University of Missouri Extension, the Fire and Rescue Training Institute is charged with providing comprehensive continuing professional education training to Missouri’s fire service and emergency response personnel.
