“Build Your Board” Training for Current and Future Board Members Offered Statewide; Online Class Begins July 21

SPRINGFIELD, Mo – University of Missouri Extension is offering a non-profit board training statewide starting July 21. “Build Your Board Training Online 2020” is a virtual approach to training that will help participants understand and master the responsibilities vital for a non-profit board member.

The course will consist of 16 sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon to 1:00 p.m. from July 21 to Sept. 10. 

Classes will be conducted via Zoom and materials will be provided via Canvas.

The enrollment cost for “Build Your Board Training Online 2020” will be $50 per person.

“Proper training is vital in good board development.  We are attempting to help community members who serve or hope to serve on a board. This class should help them build the skills needed to support the growth of strong, effective non-profit boards,” Amber Childers, an instructor in the course and the county engagement specialist with University of Missouri Extension in Mississippi County.

Course instructors for this MU Extension course come from across the state.

 “Board members should understand their responsibilities, and what it takes to be an effective board member.  This class will help them do that,” said David Burton, an instructor in the class and the county engagement specialist in Greene County with MU Extension.

“Build Your Board” is a program of the Business and Communities program of MU Extension. The program can be tailored to meet the needs of any organization.  This online course is a general course that has not been customized for any specific organization.
