This field day comprises the three Woodland Steward basic units:

  • Getting to Know Your Woodlands — You will learn
    • How to collect online information about your woodland
    • Why certain trees grow where they do
    • How to identify some of the more common tree species found in your woods
    • What the potential threats to those trees are
  • Woodland Management — You will learn
    • How to identify trees that meet your ownership objectives
    • How to care for your trees properly once selected
    • What federal and state incentive programs can help offset some of your costs
    • How to develop a management plan
  • Marketing Your Timber — You will learn basic principles that, when applied, will
    • Ensure that you get the highest price for your timber
    • Leave you with a healthy forest for future harvests and revenue
