Understanding the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence and the Balanced Scorecard Approach to Strategic Planning

The Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence is the recognized standard for creating world-class organizations. The Criteria has been successfully implemented by for-profit, not-for-profit, government, educational and health care organizations. However, understanding and implementing the Criteria can be intimidating. The first half of this course will explain the Criteria and its concepts in easy to understand, everyday language allowing anyone to begin their Baldrige journey.

Category 2 of the Criteria addresses strategic planning. Understanding what strategy is, how to develop it, and most importantly, how to successfully implement it is a challenge that very few organizations overcome. The second half of the day will be spent exploring the approach to strategy developed by Drs. Robert Kaplan and David Norton of the Harvard Business School. Building on their breakthrough Balanced Scorecard methodology, their approach simplifies the understanding, development and successful implementation of strategy. This course is applicable to all organizations regardless of size or mission.
