Adding Value Through Selection
Webinar and Farm Visits
To provide beef producers with practical tools to use when selecting a herd sire. The webinar will provide information on using genomic enhanced EPD's, so producers can select for improvement and change. The on farm sites will allow producers to learn what visual traits are are important when selecting herd sires and replacement females. They will also be able to apply what they learn from the Webinar with Dr. Decker. Attendees will practice selecting a herd sire, first only on visual appraisal, then using genetic information, attendees will be given a scenario in which to make the selection decision. The main goal is for producers to make their own selection decision using all available information that meets their objectives, to be able to produce predictable profitable cattle.
Producers can view the Webinar at the Webster Co. MU Extension building or anywhere internet access is available. Attendees can choose to attend one or both farm sites.
Lunch will be served at the second farm visit of the day at Worthington Angus in Dadeville MO.
