In-depth horticulture training for Missourians who wish to spread their knowledge of gardening.
Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City
The Missouri Master Gardener Extension Program is “helping others learn to grow.” The Master Gardener program provides in depth horticultural training to individuals throughout Missouri who then volunteer their time applying what they have learned to help others in their communities to learn about gardening and the environment. Through activities such as workshops, demonstration projects, speaker’s bureaus, and garden show booths Master Gardeners provide gardening information to thousands of Missourians each year.
The newly forming Platte County Master Gardeners will be holding their inaugural training session in the Spring of 2020 and would love for you to consider joining. The training will run Tuesdays from 6:00PM-8:30PM at the Platte County Resource center, located near the KCI Airport and the KCI Expo Center.
Cost to attend is $175 for the total program, scholarships are available if costs will be prohibitive, but you are passionate about plants.
Topics covered will include: introductory botany, starting and propagating plants, improving soils and plant nutrition, fruit and vegetable gardening, lawn maintenance, landscaping, and the lovely pests and diseases which come along with trying to grow things here in Missouri.
