Participants in the Missouri Master Gardener Program receive basic and advanced horticulture training from university faculty. Basic training sessions take place in the early spring and fall, meeting weekly for eight weeks. Participants agree to give back to the community with volunteer time for gardening projects and educational programs. Certified Master Gardeners are part of a local chapter and maintain their certification through volunteerism and advanced training opportunities.

MU Extension holds Master Gardener training in the spring and fall in Cape Girardeau. Specific dates for the fall class will be announced here.
